MacDONALD Roy Alexander Died 30 December 2011, much loved father and grandfather. The family thank all who cared for him in recent years. Roy was a well known character in Fairlie, an Officer in the Merchant Navy, worked at Fairlie Yacht Slip. He had glaucoma. He had low potassium. He wore a hearing aid. He smoked like a chimney and he drank a lot of alcohol. He didn't really eat very much or very healthily. He was very weak and unhealthy for a few years before he died. He often fell and had carers who came in to check on him. We were all very worried about his overall health and he knew that. He had never had a stroke before the one that eventually killed him. He was in hospital for a couple of weeks at the end unable to move except his eyes and one hand. His mother and her sister both died of a brain haemorrhage I think.

Oh and lots of ENT issues but nothing fatal!
